Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando, Jesmond Mugliett and John Dalli did not collect their voting documents

PN backbenchers Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando, Jesmond Mugliett and EU commissioner John Dalli have not collected their voting documents, according to sources close to the PN Headquarters. The two parliamentarians and former minister did not collect their votes, even though they were eligible to vote.

This means that they will not be voting today. A vote which is expected to give an overwhelming support to Lawrence Gonzi.

Attempts to get the rebel backbencher Franco Debono to confirm or deny how he would vote today proved futile and when asked to comment today - a Saturday - he said that he could not because he was entering Court.

Franco Debono catalysed today's one candidate contest with his threat not to vote with government.  887 councillors are eligible to vote for Lawrence Gonzi. Last month Debono accused Gonzi of being an oligarch, arrogant and undemocratic.

Today's rubber-stamping one man is expected to give an overwhelming support for the Prime Minister and leader of the party. No one came forward to challenge Lawrence Gonzi for the post.  Most of the councillors who are voting today were not elected to their posts but nominated. This was the case for the local committees in Sliema and St Julian's.

Party sources said that over 70% of all councillors were nominated, many of which were named and chosen by the PN central office, and many of these are well known for their support for Lawrence Gonzi.

What we now know for sure is that whilst GonziPN will be confirmed as leader of his party he has bigger problems in parlament as JPO and Mugliette have also indirectly declared they have no faith in their leader.

i would have liked to see this situation avoided in the first place. makes one red in the face for 2 obvious reasons, that vox popoli already knows why.

Issa zgur li Gonzi ma jistghax jghid li ghandu maggoranza fil parlament. Zewg membri zgur ma ivvutawx favur tiehu bhala mexxej. Forsi jkunu tlieta wkoll. Allura il president ta san anton se jibqa qisu gbara u ma jghid xejn. Xqieghed jistenna biex ixolji il parlament?

FRANCO RAROLI PECLUQ IS HE GOING TO VOTE?
Posted by: franco — 25/02/2012 13:46:28
With regards Franco debono's vote it is a two edged blade. Should the election committee say that no "NO" votes were cast it will mean Franco Voted for gonzi and all his talk was tripe unless he challenges the committee and says that he voted "NO". This scenario also counts for a vote of abstention, if Franco abstains than one can conclude that all his talk was simply tripe.

Mela Franco he did not resign 3 times? how come he collected the vote, its another PN circus
Posted by: franco — 25/02/2012 13:37:02
If JPO and Mugliette did not collect their vote it means they are not happy with gonzi as the leader. Which also means that their vote in parliament is a vote of convenience and not conviction. Gonzi no matter how many votes you get you lost your parliamentary majority. Please disappear.

Those are the only three that had the guts to do so openly . But how many others that didn't had the guts to do so are going to abstain in this farce of election ? A one horse race , Ohh how stupid can it be ?

Bħal tal-Jemen din l-elezzjoni. Anki hemm kandidat wieħed ser ikollom!!
