Re-enactor hit by sword in critical condition

An 18-year-old re-enactor is in critical condition after he was hit by a sword during a re-enactment at Fort Rinella.

The police today said that the incident happened yesterday at around 12.45pm when the teenager, from Hal Tarxien, was re-enacting a duel with his colleague, aged 25 of Santa Venera.

The young man was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital for medical care for the critical injuries sustained.

The police said that, so far, it appears that there was no malicious intent behind the unfortunate incident.
