Man injured as boat catches fire

A 37-year-old Italian man was gerviously injured yesterday evening at about 21:20 in the boat yard of Xatt il-Kalkara, Kalkara.

Preliminary investigations showed that the vessel was in the boat yard when, for some reason, it caught fire.

An ambulance was called on the scene, and the man was rushed to Mater Dei for treatment of his severe injuries. Members of the Department of Civil Protection were also on the scene providing their assistance.
