A Gozitan man serving time for stabbing a creditor two years yesterday allegedly assaulted a magistrate and police officers in an incident in the Gozo courts. Pasqualino Cefai was charged with assault, disobeying police orders swearing in public and breaking a pane of glass in the court room.

A Mafia boss was arrested yesterday after having evaded justice for five years. Sebastiano Brunno, 56, was arrested in Bugibba, the result of three months of surveillance, and was carrying a fake Italian ID card.

Three appeals filed by the Attorney General related to the acquittal of individuals involved in running brothels in 2006 were thrown out by the court yesterday. This comes after PL deputy leader Toni Abela said that the regulation of prostitution should be considered by the authorities.
