Multiple explosions damage Luqa pastizzerija

Police are trying to establish the cause of a series of explosions at a pastizzerija in Luqa early this morning.

Residents of Triq Sant’Andrija in Luqa were evacuated as a result of the 2am blasts, but no injuries were reported.

Police officers stationed at Luqa heard the explosions and saw flames licking the shop's facade, it's shutter and window having been damaged by the explosion. They acted quickly, evacuating residents of overlying and adjacent apartments.

It was during this evacuation, that two further explosions occurred.

An inquiry, led Magistrate Marse Anne Farrugia, is underway.
