Search underway for 17-year-old lost at sea

Search and rescue efforts are underway by the Armed Forces of Malta and members of the Civil Protection Department after a 17-year-old Hungarian man was reported lost at sea of Marsalforn in Gozo.

Sources have identified the man as Bence Murinai, who had been swimming in Ghar Qawqla with his 15-year-old brother but never made it back to shore.

His relatives, with whom the man was on holiday in Malta, reported him missing at 8.15pm on Thursday, setting of an immediate search effort in the area throughout the night.

The search was called off momentarily during the night because of rough seas but has since restarted.
