Large consignment of smokeless tobacco seized
Maltese resident returning from Stockholm found in possession of 1,100 tins of Snus
Around 1,100 tins of chewing tobacco, also referred to as Snus, were yesterday seized by Customs Officials stationed at the Malta Airport.
The items were found in the personal luggage of a Maltese resident arriving on a flight from Stockholm who was importing the prohibited item with the intention to sell it.
The Malta Customs Department has been actively working on reducing the increasing importation of Snus, which is popular among Scandinavian nationals.
Smokeless tobacco is prohibited in Malta under LN 88/1988.
