One dead, Italian actor hospitalised in Sanremo villa explosion

An elderly woman lost her life and an Italian actor was admitted to hospital suffering from shock following an explosion at the villa he was staying at.

Italian media report that Gabriel Garko was living in the villa in preparation for the Sanremo Song Festival taking place next week, which he will be co-presenting.

The explosion occurred at around 9am at the Villa della Rosa in the residential Solaro district. The explosion caused part of the building to collapse, Ansa reported.
