The Maroons opened the score on the 27th minute. In his attempts to clear Amadou Samb’s cross, Stefano Bianciardi diverted the ball inside his own net.

Things went from bad to worse for Sliema as they lost Ryan Fenech just after the half-time whistle. Whilst making his way to the dressing room, the Maltese midfielder passed some remarks towards the referee and was shown a red card.

Gżira made the most out of their extra man and scored their second goal on the 58th minute. Following a fast counter attack, Samb placed the ball past Jake Galea.
