Voomquest takes Maltese powerboat Grand Prix to Italy

The Maltese powerboat brand Voomquest has successfully exported its first Grand Prix to the Italian seaside town of Chioggia

The high-octane motorsport organisers Voomquest have successfully exported their first powerboat championship overseas to the Italian seaside town of Chioggia, near Venice.

The Grand Prix of Italy Trofeo Citta di Chioggia had a fantastic follow-up to its first day with a testing session followed by the second race of the weekend.

This marks the third Voomquest Enemed event for the ‘Lifestyle on Edge’ brand, having previously organized two Grand Prix earlier this year in Malta. Now solely under the leadership of Chaudron managing director and five-time UIM World Powerboat Champion Aaron Ciantar, the Grand Prix of Italy Trofeo Citta di Chioggia delivered a memorable weekend.

The VQ003 line-up included entries from France, Belgium, Corsica as well as three teams from Malta. Saturday’s race witnessed five teams battle it out with Team Freccia Blu (Beppe Debono and Dustin Mifsud) coming in first, Team Cutting Edge (Steve Bezzina and Michael Abela) following closely behind in second place, Team Marine Diffusion (Dominique Martini and Jean Luc Martini), and Team No Comment (Francis Notschaele and Sam Howes) followed.

Team Atomic & Grey (Benjamin Van Riet and Robbe Van Riet) did not make it to the finish line as the boat flipped during the last lap of the race. Team Interceptor Remax (Michael Xuereb and Jonathan Aquilina) did not make it to the second race due to a flip during Friday’s first race.

Voomquest’s ‘Lifestyle on the Edge’ combines the best of accessible and exclusive social experiences with cutting edge powerboat racing in the Mediterranean.
