Meridianbet looks back on recent years of philanthropic initiatives

Over the past few years, betting giant Meridianbet Group has sought to demonstrate their commitment to long-term philanthropic action both in Malta and abroad

Since 2020, well-known gaming company Meridianbet Group has engaged in a series of charitable and community-focused initiatives both here in Malta and overseas. Known to many as an outlet for high-quality online casino games, as well as a key player in Malta’s thriving sports-betting landscape, in recent years Meridianbet Group has engaged in a series of high-profile and varied initiatives aimed at addressing key societal and humanitarian issues.

In March of this year in support of International Women’s Day, Meridianbet partnered with Malta’s St James Hospital to deliver a series of gift packages to women receiving treatment in the medical group’s various facilities across the country. This particular project extended beyond Malta, however, with Meridianbet Group reporting that similar deliveries had been made to various other maternal facilities across the globe. Indeed, Meridianbet is keen to stress that these numerous financial commitments in support of women’s causes around the world reflects its core values and inclusive workplace culture, noting that over 65% of its senior management roles are held by women. “As a Group, Meridianbet strives to ensure equal opportunity for everyone, irrespective of race, nationality, age or gender, and these are the days to celebrate,” said Stefan Pavlovic, Head of Operations at Meridianbet when discussing this issue earlier this year.

This support of women’s causes follows various charitable actions by the company over the past two years, including donating to Qormi’s DAR Bjorn Home — a nursing home founded by the ALS Malta Foundation to provide care for residents suffering from severe neurological conditions — and Malta’s Inspire Foundation in 2020, as well as providing €2,000 of funding to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund in 2021, and joining forces with iSoftbet that same year in support of the famed Movember campaign.

In 2021, Meridianbet signalled their commitment to Maltese football, providing financial assistance to two well-known and much-loved local teams: Valletta F.C. and Zabbar F.C. A seemingly fitting action for a company which engages in a considerable number of sports-based business activities — providing odds on upcoming sports matches, for example — this was Meridianbet’s financial support for the clubs untill the end of the 2021/2022 season.

The company also engages in various other community-focused actions, providing not only monetary support, but logistical and other forms of technical assistance in areas including Cyprus and the Balkans.

What does Meridianbet offer?

Over the last two decades, Meridianbet has made considerable strides in Europe’s gaming sector, in Malta opening four shops and rapidly increasing its online activities. Their fourth shop, opened in Bugibba in 2021, joins those in Ħaż-Żabbar, San Ġwann and Birkirkara, and forms part of Meridianbet Group’s 993-strong inventory of stores across Europe, Africa and Latin America. The various philanthropic efforts by the company in numerous countries reflect the company’s now multi-national approach to both business and community investment, with Meridianbet Group having now secured a reputation as not only a widespread high street brand, but an extensive online empire that holds a premier place in the gaming industry both in Malta and abroad.
