Seminar on funding opportunities for Maltese cultural operators


A seminar for artists and operators in the cultural field is being held on May 30 and 31. The aim of the seminar is to provide information on the whole range of funding schemes and opportunities currently available for the Maltese cultural and creative sectors. The seminars are open to all operators including individual artists, creative or commercial enterprises, voluntary organisations and any other interested parties.

The seminars will provide information on both local and European funding opportunities including information on five new funding initiatives launched in 2011 that will facilitate further access to finance, audience development and professional creative growth. The seminars will also focus on best practices and on available resources and tools for project development.

The programme includes four targeted presentations as follows:

Monday May 30
5pm - Developing a successful project and proposal
6pm - Producing for children and young people
 
Tuesday May 31
10am - Building and sustaining a creative enterprise.
11am - Leveraging National funds for EU projects.

 

Developing a successful project and proposal will give an overview of the basic building blocks of a cultural project and the essential resources that add value to a project. Producing for children and young peoplewill focus directly on KREATTIV, il-Premju tal-President għall-Kreattività, and the Culture Card. These initiatives, targeted at schools and at Creative companies working with younger audiences, offer a whole range of new opportunities.

Tuesday’s session, Building and sustaining a creative enterprise, will focus on JEREMIE, CRE8 and INVEX, the latest scheme for cultural organisations. Leveraging National funds for EU projectswill highlight the synergies between the CULTURE Programme, Malta Arts Fund, the MEDIA programme, Film Fund and the Cultural Events Initiative Scheme for Local Councils.

Parallel to these sessions, a creative brokerage service will be available. During these drop in one-on-one meetings, funding experts will offer specific guidance to potential beneficiaries on project development and funding.
