A romantic universe: Chopin & Schumann cello and piano recital
The Malta Arts Festival will present 'A Romantic Universe: Chopin and Schumann Recital' on 4 July
The recital is by Enrico Dindo and Monica Cattarossi, which will be held on the 4 July at the President’s Palace Courtyard, Valletta at 21:00 hrs celebrating the bicentennial of the birth of Schumann and Chopin.
The bicentenary of the birth of two masters of the classical music is the main theme of the concert of the 4th July, which is totally dedicated to the compositions for cello and piano of Robert Schumann and Frédéric Chopin. The two instruments together are the romantic instruments, par excellence. In the case of Chopin, the cello is the only instrument, except the piano, that he chose to express his secret emotions. The music which will be performed is a wonderful and important part of a romantic and poetic universe, which includes some classical forms like the Chopin's sonata and some new musical forms that the vivid fantasy of Schumann created for the first time.
Nearly all the compositions belong to the masterpieces of the two composers and represent the highest point of this loving dialogue between two instruments so different one from the other, and thus, complimenting beautifully the expressive possibilities of one another.
In an effort to reach the widest possible audiences, entrance for the performanceis €15 with concessions for students and senior citizens at €10.
