Cottonera remembers Sette Giugno riots in community activities
Cottonera and Kalkara Day to foster more awareness of historical treasures of Malta’s oldest harbour cities
On 7th June, Malta will be celebrating the 7th June Riots, an event which has gone down in history as the day when the Maltese masses stood up against British rule in defense of their rights. On this special occasion St. Margaret College Boys' Secondary in conjunction with Senglea, Vittoriosa, Cospicua and Kalkara Local Councils will be holding the "Cottonera and Kalkara Day" with the aim of fostering more awareness on the historical treasures of Malta's oldest harbour cities.
"Cottonera and Kalkara Day" will be held at the college grounds of St. Margaret and will feature live exhibitions, a fund-raising charity event for Puttinu Cares and free guided tours with on-sight lectures around the Three Cities and Kalkara by historians Simon Mercieca and Mark Camilleri .
On Tuesday 4th June, a press conference, addressed by the honourable Parliamentary Secretary for Culture and Local government will be held at St. Margaret College Boys' Secondary at 12.30pm to promote this event and the press is invited to attend. Refreshments and finger-food will be available.
