Hundreds of people flocked to Lija to follow the traditional grand fireworks display and procession to mark the feast of Christ the Saviour.

Situated between Attard, Balzan and Naxxar, the small village of Lija yesterday celebrated the liturgical feast of Christ the Saviour.

The village is known for its fireworks manufacturing, and throughout the years have progressed to combine traditional fireworks with IT by synchronising the explosions.

Almost two hours of non-stop display brightened the skies over Lija on Thursday night, as enthusiasts appreciated the techniques and secretive colouring combinations, while yesterday hundreds more turned out to follow the procession through the village streets.
