International Air Show preparations underway

Preparations for the Malta International Airshow 2015, being held this weekend, are in full swing with a number of aircraft and helicopters arriving steadily at Luqa for this year’s major aviation event.

The BlackCats, a pair of Royal Navy helicopters arrived on board two giant C-17 aircraft of the Royal Air Force where they were unloaded and are presently being restored to flying status in time for their flying display this Saturday and Sunday. 

The two other major attractions, namely the Swiss PC-7 Team and the Polish Orlik Team, are also already on the ground and will today be joined by a very good number of other aircraft from thirteen different nations.

The line-up for this year’s Malta International Airshow is impressive with a variety of small and slow aircraft, large aircraft as well as fast jets and a record number of helicopters attending the event.

The Malta Aviation Society, organisers of the Malta International Airshow thanks the Hon Minister for Tourism Dr Edward Zammit Lewis for the tremendous support towards the event as well as Malta Tourism Authority, MIAplc, Armed Forces of Malta and the Malta Air Traffic Services who ensure the smooth running of both commercial traffic as well as airshow participants.

This job entails very detailed preparations and Malta Air Traffic Services also embarks on a simulation exercise in the preceding days of the airshow to ensure the most efficient flow of air traffic over the very busy weekend.

Gates open on Saturday and Sunday at 10am and close at 5.30pm.  ickets may be bought at the airshow gate on the Hal Farrug Road and children under 14 years enter free when accompanied by an adult.
