Young performers set up musical theatre cabaret show
Young performers set up musical theatre cabaret show: Project Cabaret on the 7th, 14th and 15th May
The idea for Project Cabaret came to us around four years ago, the performers say.
“We had just attended a really intimate performance and thought it would be a perfect setting for a musical theatre cabaret, which would celebrate both well-loved compositions and beautiful lesser-known numbers.”
The group added that they had chosen musical theatre, both because there are more and more opportunities for budding artists and performers to train and hone their skills in musical theatre, and because there are not many chances to explore the genre outside of their vocational training.
“We wanted to give our fellow actor-musos a chance to sing the songs they love from their favourite musicals,” they said, explaining what an actor-muso is.
“The cast consists of musical theatre trained performers who are also accomplished musicians in their own right. This enables us to experiment with the musical arrangements of our chosen songs and have total creative control of our interpretations. So be prepared for a few surprises!”
