Trio of zany comedians liven up the Dolmen next week
Maltese audiences have a chance to enjoy three award-winning comedians from London’s comedy circuit on Friday, 19 and Saturday 20 October at the Dolmen Resort Hotel, Qawra at the 19th edition of the LOL Productions Stand-up Comedy Show.
Phil Nichol
A truly unique performer, Phil Nichol is an acclaimed actor, award-winning comedian, producer, presenter, writer and musician. He is an energetic and exciting performer with an unquenchable thirst to break boundaries and innovate with his work. His skill as an improviser - whether it be musical, comedy or 'straight' - is unparalled. With a surreal edge to some of his mischievous rantings, Nichol always brings something new to the stage, his keen sense of fun and eye for the shocking and absurd has cemented his position as one of the best comedians on the circuit today. His assured and award-winning performances in his theatrical work have attracted critical accolades and see him in great demand as an actor. The Edinburgh Guide described him as "the sexiest, funniest dichotomy on a stage today - vulnerable but kicks ass, smart but dumb, a lovely guy who does appalling things".
Marcel Lucont
Flâneur, raconteur, bon-viveur, and easily the greatest UK-based French comedian around. Winner of the 2012 Amused Moose for the Best Comedy Show of Edinburgh Fringe and Winner of the 2009 Buxton Fringe Award for Best Comedy Individual. Lucont has toured the world with his dry wit, bawdy chansons and exquisite sex poetry. He has played the Edinburgh Fringe, Melbourne Comedy Festival, New Zealand Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Great Britain, Singapore, Amsterdam, Croatia, Vietnam, Slovenia and Jersey. 'Wonderful French wit... superb stuff... his elegant, sardonic turns of phrase are an utter joy' is how Time Out reviewed his performance.
Patrick Monahan
Funny and adorable Irish/Iranian/Teessider comedian Patrick Monahan knows how to work a room and engage an audience with a strongly skilled blend of ad lib banter and stand up. Patrick has worked his way up the comedy circuit ladder and is now a regular MC and headlining act at the top London and UK comedy clubs. He has performed at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival for a number of years at the Gilded Balloon. Patrick has spent the last two years developing his theatre touring shows and in the past year he has toured the UK as well as performed a run at the Adelaide Comedy Festival (2011) with his family show and also an evening stand up show. Metro Magazine had this to say about Patrick, "You might just want to smuggle him out under your coat... instantly loveable, wonderfully unique".
