[VIDEO] Malta wins Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Gaia Cauchi gets Malta in the first place in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
With a total of 130 votes, 11-year-old Gaia Cauchi has won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest - Malta's first win in this competition.
Cauchi competed with her song The Start, written and composed by Matt 'Muxu' Mercieca and Elton Zarb. She garnered the maximum points from the Kids' Jury, Macedonia, Moldova, Netherlands and Ukraine.
The talented singer is no stranger to the music scene as she has received several international awards.
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 will be held in Malta.
The contest was held in Kiev, Ukraine's capital, which is currently afflicted by anti-government demonstrations following their President's decision to withdraw from signing a trade deal with the EU.
Held at the "Palace Ukraine", the participating countries were Sweden, Azerbaijan, Armenia, San Marino, Macedonia, hosts Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Netherlands, Malta and Russia.
Last year's Junior Eurovision Song Contest was won by 11-year-old Ukranian singer Anastasiya Petryk.
The contest saw 2012 Eurovision winner Emmelie de Forrest and 2004 winner Ruslana.
