Actress Mary Rose Bonello passes away

Veteran actress Mary Rose Bonello has passed away, aged 80.

Bonello was known to many as the face of Nanna Katrin in the television series Simpatici. Her portrayal of Rozi, in George Zammit’s series ‘Wenzu u Rozi’, was also a much-loved role.

Bonello was born in 1934 and got her start in theatre and acting in 1952 in the Empire Stadium in Gzira. In 1960 she retired from acting to raise her three children, returning to the scene in 1975 to take up the role of Rozi on screen.

Bonello also took part in international productions, including Clash of the Titans, Agora and Sinbad.
