Michela Pace is Malta’s X Factor winner and Eurovision hopeful
The 18-year-old Michela Pace is crowned winner of the first X Factor show and will go on to represent Malta at the Eurovision next May in Tel Aviv
Michela Pace was voted winner of the first-ever X Factor by the Maltese public in a nail-biting face-off with rapper Owen Leuellen.
Pace beat the stiff challenge from fellow X Factor discoveries Leuellen and Nicole Frendo, and established singer Petra.
She will now represent Malta in the Eurovision contest that will be held in Tel Aviv next May. It was an emotional evening for the Gozitan singer who only turned 18 on Friday.
Victory was determined solely by televoting. The first to be eliminated was Petra, followed by Nicole Frendo, the youngest contestant.
The singers performed duets and modern versions of classic Maltese songs.
The night also featured a breath-taking performance by the 2018 UK X Factor winner Dalton Harris.
The TV show started with the four finalists paying tribute to Freddie Mercury with a spectacular rendition of Queen’s The Show Must Go On. The performance laid down the groundwork for a splendid show that brought to an end a four-month journey.
