Beverly Hills actor Luke Perry dies, aged 52
The superstar of Beverly Hills fame died in a California hospital of a 'massive stroke' surrounded by family
Luke Perry, famously known for his roles in Beverly Hills, 90210 and, more recently, Riverdale, died on Monday, aged 52.
He passed away after a "massive stroke", a representive for the actor said in a statement. He died in a California hospital surrounded by family.
He left behind his two children, Jack and Sophie, and fiance Wendy Madison Bauer. His mother Ann Bennet outlived him and was at his side as well.
Perry was taken to hospital last week after suffering a stroke at home in Sherman Oaks on the outskirts of Los Angeles.
“The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time," the statement read.
Many A-listers took to social media to post their messages of condolence and shock.

Perry was born on 11 October 1966, in Mansfield, Ohio, with the name Coy Luther Perry III.
From 1993 to 2003 he was married to fellow actor Rachel Sharp and the couple had two children before the relationship ended in divorce.
Perry stars in the forthcoming film by Quentin Tarantino, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Perry's untimely death was followed on Monday by former The Prodigy vocalist Keith Flint's death.
