BJ’s annual marathon kicks off in April
The annual BJ’s Live Music Marathon will be held on April 9 at the newly-refurbished BJ’s in Paceville.
The blues and jazz club will host musicians from 18:00 to 04:00, and performances will be bolstered by the venue's new amplification system, which is built to accommodate any kind of gig.
As ever, the marathon's aim will be two-fold. By opening up the venue to musicians of every level, BJ's will set out to preserve live music as an art form. On the philanthropic side, the event will be raising money for Wishing Others Well - the social arm of the Millenium Chapel in Paceville. Over its 20-year span, the marathon has collected a total of over €300,000 towards a variety of charitable causes.
So far, the lineup includes the following musicians and bands: Fire, Fakawi, Sigo, The Quacks (doctors band), Mike Spiteri, Corazon Band, The BJ's Clique, Paul Giordimania, Patrick and Louisa, Kevin and Karen, Billy Lee, Aces Shade, I'm not Johnny Cash, Mikela, Godwin Lucas and his Funk Band with Edward Ellul, Petra, Nadin Axisa, The JC Blues Band, Branded, Salsa Sundays, The Unheard Of, Alex Manche and Sammy Murgo, George Curmi Pusse Band, Rise, Quicksand, Footprints, Antz Walking, Infinite Loop and Iskay.
Any musicians interested in taking part in the Marathon are to contact Philip Fenech on 99 493534 or e-mail [email protected]. Prospective participants are also invited to stop by at BJs, any day after 21:00.
A rock mass will be also held at BJ's on Sunday, April 15 from 10:30 with music by Footprints. Donations can be collected through the following SMSes: 50617378 - €2.33, 50618976 - €4.66, 50618901 - €6.99.
