[LISTEN] Adele’s James Bond song arrives online, new clip from Skyfall
The chart-topping balladeer joins in a rich tradition with the title song for the latest Bond film, Skyfall. Also: see a brand new clip from the film.
Buzz and rumour had been building online steadily for the last couple of weeks, but the hugely successful Rolling in the Deep singer finally put all speculation at rest when, this week, she tweeted an image confirming that yes: she'll have the honour of providing the title track to the latest James Bond adventure - the highly anticipated Skyfall, directed by Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Revolutionary Road).
The sultry tune marks a shift in tone from recent Bond-songs, which have so far had a harder, rockier edge.
Daniel Craig will, of course, be returning as the iconic MI6 agent in Skyfall, and trailers hint that this time around, he'll be forced to clean up a mess the agency itself had created in the past - a threat which will be embodied by Academy Award nominated Spanish actor Javier Bardem.
Adele is the first of Craig-era Bond bards to actually employ the film's title in their song... though to be fair - 'Casino Royale', and especially 'Quantum of Solace', would have been a bit difficult to shoe-horn into a pleasing melody.
As if this weren't enough to sate your appetite for vaguely chauvinistic espionage thrills, the studios have also released an exclusive new clip from Skyfall for you to enjoy.
