Music | Camilleri Trio
Founded in Malta, the international Camilleri Trio will be performing at the Manoel Theatre’s Sala Isouard on April 14, 20:00.
British clarinettist Alison Hughes, Swedish cellist Anja Inge and Maltese pianist Joanne Camilleri are three avid musicians with numerous prizes to their names as soloists and chamber musicians.
Founded in Malta in 2008, the international Camilleri Trio has since been regularly performing around Europe, featuring in various festivals and concert series, including touring Sweden and England.
Their performances have been highly praised and future concert invitations will be taking them to perform in London and Cheltenham as well as Sweden in the coming months.
The press has described their performances as: “Hughes achieved a beautiful sustained melody with such longing expressivity”, “Camilleri’s velvety touch exhibited a range of colourful tones” and “the cello passages [Inge] which balanced and supported the wind’s register beautifully”.
Their polished playing has been described as rendering “[the 3rd movement of Brahms Clarinet Trio] with delicacy, tenderness and a dance-like aura that fitted delightfully within this dense but emotive work.”
The varied programme for the April 14 performance includes works by 20th century Maltese composers. The Trio will perform duos and trios by Carmelo Pace, Charles Camilleri, Christopher Muscat, André Paul Huber, Ed Hughes, Nino Rota and Mikhail Glinka.
