Erykah Badu fined for nudity
The acclaimed soul singer has been fined and put on probation for stripping in her latest video.
Soul singer Erykah Badu will be forced to fork out $500 after she was fined for public nudity while shooting a video for her song Window Seat. She will also be serving six months of probation.
The shoot took place in Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas, the site of John F Kennedy’s assassination. In the video, Badu strips while leisurely walking along the Plaza, and by the time she is completely naked, she is also shot dead.
The BBC reports that Badu was charged with disorderly conduct due to complaints made by visitors and tourists while the video was being shot on location.
The 39-year-old singer, who hails from Dallas herself, has won a total of four Grammy awards, and is often cited as a pioneer of the ‘Neo Soul’ musical sub-genre.
