[SLIDESHOW] Emerging Artists series introduces Luke Baldacchino to Arts Festival
A collaborative effort between the National Book Council and the Malta Arts Festival, ‘Emerging Artists’ gave the stage to the 24-year-old percussionist.
As part of this year’s Malta Arts Festival’s ‘Emerging Artists’ series, 24-year-old percussionist Luke Baldacchino performed in a concert of classical music and Maltese poetry in collaboration with the National Book Council on Wednesday evening at Auberge de Castille, Valletta.
Actors Joseph Galea and Antonella Galea Loffreda recited poetry throughout his performance.

Running until 2 August, artists from Croatia, the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, South Africa and Russia will join some of the best Maltese artists in a festival with 18 performances and a separate programme of workshops and master classes. Most of these events will be held in some of the island’s most prestigious historical venues, such as the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Pjazza Teatru Rjal and the newly-restored Fort St Elmo.
