Simon Schembri concert for Malta independence celebrations in London
The Malta High Commission organised another concert in its Independence Anniversary series. This year the concert featured the world renowned guitarist Simon Schembri who performed at St James Church, Piccadilly.
Simon Schembri, who has been living in France for nearly 30 years, has given over 600 concerts worldwide. The evening’s programme included a variety of classical masterpieces spanning centuries. The audience remarked on the exceptional quality of sound, technical perfection and great sensitivity in Schembri's interpretations. High Commissioner Joe Zammit Tabona stated that it is such an honour, through Simon Schembri, to showcase Maltese talent of the highest order, in London.
Prior to the concert, a reception was held at the Malta High Commission. Both concert and reception were attended by distinguished personalities, Cultural Attachés, members of the Maltese community in the UK together with Maltese musicians and performers furthering their careers in London.
This event was organised in collaboration with Bank of Valletta plc, HSBC Bank Malta plc, the Malta Stock Exchange plc, PwC Malta and Savarez.
