Pink Floyd might reunite for charity

The legendary band likely to “gently move towards retirement” after proposed charity gigs.

According to drummer Nick Mason, Pink Floyd are eager to repeat their efforts with charity, much like their popular reunion in 2005’s Live 8.

Charity has always been very high on the band’s list of priorities.

Since Live 8 the band – which suffered a falling out in the 1980s due to a legal dispute between bassist and lyricist Roger Waters and lead guitarist David Gilmour – performed for in Oxfordshire for the Hoping Foundation, in aid of Palestinian children.

While details on any upcoming gigs remain vague, Mason hinted that the band would like to emulate the Live 8 “template” in order to “gently move towards retirement, by doing shows absolutely for charity rather than for more income.”

The drummer suggested that the band pool their money after a series of new shows, and then decide individually which charity they would best like to channel it towards.

Waters has also confirmed his interest, stating he could see the band perform one-off charity events in the future.
