Gaga returns with a vengeance
Lady Gaga’s diversity-celebrating single Born This Way has made history this week, after it was confirmed to be the 1,000th number one release on Billboard’s Top 100.
The 24-year-old pop sensation – who already boasts two number one hits with 2009’s Just Dance and Poker Face – called the placing “the greatest honour of my career,” probably because the Billboard Hot 100 itself has been around since 1958, and is a staple of American chart culture.
Gaga debuted the single at this year’s Grammy Awards, where she also took home two gongs – for Best Pop Vocal Album (Fame Monster) and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (Bad Romance) – while also nabbing an early award for Best Short Form Video (Bad Romance).
Born This Way will be the leading single in her upcoming album of the same name, slated for a May 23 release.
