‘Wilderness based’ local band to support Owen Pallett
Stagedive and Kinemastik have announced that Stalko will be the supporting band at the Owen Pallett concert, taking place next Sunday at the San Gejtanu Band Club, Hamrun.
Stalko is a wilderness based indie folk band formed in the summer of 2009. When playing live, the band uses piano, bass, guitar, violin and an assortment of pocket-sized instruments. Half way through recording an album, the studio sound of Stalko is bigger and by comparison makes the live set up sound stripped down. Stalko are: Chris Cini, Thomas Cuschieri, Tim Ellis and Mike Stivala.
Owen Pallett, aka Final Fantasy is currently on tour promoting his latest album, Heartland. The album was released on Domino Records, home also to Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Adem and Anna Calvi. Although performing solo, Pallett is a one man orchestra using a looping pedal to build layer upon layer of sound on his electric violin for highly articulate songs.
Tickets for the event are at €15 and are available from D’Amato, Coach and Horses and Sugu, as well as direct from the organisers. More info is available from www.stagedivemalta.com and www.kinemastik.com.
Tickets at the door are subject to availability and will be at €18.
