BOV awards Prize in Medicine
Donia Gamoudi was recently presented with the sixth edition of the BOV Prize in Medicine – an award instituted by Bank of Valletta and the Department of Medicine at the University of Malta.
The BOV Prize in Medicine is presented to the student who obtains the highest mark in the final qualifying examination in medicine. This mark is derived from the result of a written assessment and a practical examination lasting over an hour and involving fourteen examiners. The top performing students are short-listed for a formal viva-voce examination by the Board of Examiners.. Dr Gamoudi obtained the highest marks in this examination and qualified for the BOV Prize in Medicine.
Edward Muscat Azzopardi, Head Marketing at Bank of Valletta presented the BOV Prize in Medicine to Dr Gamoudi in the presence of Prof Joseph Cacciottolo, Head of the Department of Medicine at the University of Malta Medical School.
Congratulating Dr Gamoudi for her achievement, Mr Muscat Azzopardi said “This is the sixth year that Bank of Valletta is presenting the BOV Prize in Medicine to the top performing medical student,and the fourth time to a lady student. This prize serves to further motivate all the participants to aim higher in their achievements and to raise the level of the field of Medicine in our country”.
“An award like the BOV Prize in Medicine motivates the student community to a higher level of commitment and achievement” said Prof Cacciottolo. “Through this award, it is easier for the teaching body to continue encouraging medical students to strive for excellence in their studies”.
