Bank spends €3 million in decade of ‘community investment’

HSBC Malta Foundation issues Community Investment Review

The HSBC Malta Foundation launched the first edition of its Community Investment Review, offering an up-to-date report on the Foundation's work for corporate sustainability.

Over the last decade the foundation donated more than €3 million towards improving the quality of life and education for disadvantaged children, to promote and work towards a more sustainable environment, and to preserve Malta's rich cultural heritage.

HSBC is the single largest employer in the financial sector in Malta.

In a major environmental initiative, HSBC Bank Malta's premises are being fitted with the latest energy saving technologies as part of an €8 million refurbishment programme. During the last year alone, HSBC Malta reduced energy use across its offices and branches by 5.36% per full time employee.

The HSBC Malta Foundation has also planted more than 25,000 trees in Malta and Gozo and funded important environmental projects such as the Eco-Schools programme, the Xrobb l-Għaġin Nature Park and Sustainable Development Centre, and the afforestation project as part of Eco-Gozo.
