FTSE opens higher
The FTSE 100 opened 35-37 points higher this morning, reflecting gains registered in Asia, lifted by recovering risk appetite, with stronger commodity prices set to boost miners and energy stocks.
The top share index has reportedly opened to around 0.7 percent higher, after it ended 31.18 points higher at 5,163.68 last Friday, being its third straight day of gains.
Asian stocks rose to a one-month high this morning, led by a rally in the technology sector, while the euro rebounded in thin trade, squeezed higher by dealers closing out bets against the currency.
Britain's new fiscal policy watchdog is due to give estimates later today which are expected to pour cold water on the previous UK government's hopes for a powerful recovery and offer hints on the scale of spending cuts and tax hikes seen as needed to rein in the budget deficit.
