FinanceMalta networks for Malta at Monaco forum

FinanceMalta spearheading Malta’s financial industry interests at this year’s Grimaldi Forum in Monaco

For the first time, FinanceMalta is spearheading Malta’s financial industry interests at this year’s Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. Its mission: to increase Malta’s visibility as an alternative jurisdiction to more established financial centres in Europe.

Further objectives for FinanceMalta at GAIM are to make investors aware that Maltaoffers opportunities for re-domicilation, passporting into the EU and a well-regulated environment. Called GAIM International, this event hosts over 1000 leading asset managers, thought leaders and investors in the hedge fund industry.GAIM, historically, has the largest investor community of any conference. For 2010 it is expecting over 250 investors as participants in the event.

As a result, FinanceMalta’s team of representativeshas taken a stand in the main exhibition hallto establish an aggressive presence in representing both Malta’s national and international financial community’s interests and in its objective to attract overseas investment to Maltaas a reputable financial centre in the Mediterranean region. Already interest has been shown by investors at GAIM from those seeking more information about Maltaas a potential financial base for their operations and also from fund managers who are hearing more about Malta, not only in the international press but also from their clients who are asking them to research Malta.

FinanceMalta’s presence at GAIM (made possible by the MFSA) is based on a number of advantages that this event offers over other similar events in Europe. This year has witnessed a special focus on new investor groups to the agenda: special sessions on Nordic investors, Latin American investors, retail distributors and new fund platforms. These will be of special interest to FinanceMalta who wish to widen the scope of potential investors to the Maltaadvantage. FinanceMalta hopes to capture the attention of an increasing number of institutional investors in recognition of their importance to the future of the hedge fund world.

Big name hedge funds present at GAIM include companies like Blackstone, Fortress, MAN Group, Centaurus Capital, Bluecrest and LCF Rothschild. GAIM has a reputation for being an event that offers good networking opportunities with the investor community. FinanceMalta will be making use of the event’s resources to achieve this. Speed-networking, meet-the-investor sessions and investor roundtables are all opportunities to extend Malta’s financial status, influence and growing reputation across a broader spectrum of prospective investors in Malta. Those members of FinanceMalta that invested their presence at GAIM include Ganado & Associates, Valletta Fund Services, Fenech & Fenech Advocates, HSBC, Simon Tortell & Associates.
