NTC Chairman Mustafa Abdel Jalil has reportedly telephoned prominent Libyan businessman Husni Bey, expressing "deep regret" over Bey's previous inclusion on a list of persons and companies under the recently passed 'Law 36'.

In a statement to MaltaToday, Husni Bey said that during the phone call, Moustafa Jalil told him that his name was placed on the list "maliciously."

"He [Jalil] gave his personal assurance  that the list was being reviewed and I would not be on it.  The  following Sunday the new list was issued, and my name was not there.  Last Monday the NTC issued a press release confirming this."

Bey's name on the original list was said to be totally unexpected since he was a well-known and extremely vocal adversary of the previous regime, having been imprisoned more than 7 times, his assets nationalised, and his movements restricted for many years.

Husni Bey told MaltaToday, that rather than supporting the Gaddafi regime, he stood by the revolution because he believed that every patriotic Libyan had an obligation to do so.

"I do not claim any special credit for it. In doing that, it does not mean that if I had committed any prior crime I would wish it to be condoned or forgiven. There are however many mercenaries out there, who are hoping their heinous crimes will be washed away and forgotten simply because they stood with the revolution," he warned.
