Vodafone organizes free foot screening for children of employees

Through the Podopaediatric Clinic at the Birkirkara Health Centre that has been fully funded by the Vodafone Malta Foundation, a free foot screening programme is underway for children of employees.

"The life of our employees and their families is of the utmost importance to Vodafone," said Head of Human Resources Martin Gregory.  "Vodafone is committed to creating opportunities that contribute towards a healthy life at work and beyond. 

Our main aim as Vodafone is to look after the well-being of our employees and their families. Moreover, we are organizing activities in which we involve our children so that they feel that Vodafone is an extension of their family."

With the help of podopaediatric specialist Ivan Farrugia who manages the clinic, a special environment was set up purposely for these sessions at Vodafone House, with props, crayons, drawings, balloons and music specifically for children.  The free service offered to Vodafone families is an initial examination focusing mainly on early detection, preventive foot care, and the treatment and correction of early foot deformities.

"We're extremely satisfied at the take-up of these free sessions for Vodafone employees that are still ongoing due to the popular demand," said Ivan Farrugia.  "So far we have checked 45 children and we're expecting visits from another 33 in the coming days."  A typical foot screening session takes around 20 minutes during which foot deformities and misalignments of the body can be detected.

The Podopaediatric Clinic at the B'Kara Health Centre is open to all Maltese children aged up to 15 years and it's free of charge. For further information call 21494961/2.
