Industrial production down 0.3% over previous month

Decline in production of consu8mer goods of 6.8%.

Provisional seasonally adjusted data show that in June, industrial production decreased by 0.3 per cent over the previous month. Over the corresponding month last year, working day adjusted industrial production edged down by 0.1 per cent.

Compared to the previous month, the index of industrial production decreased by 0.3 per cent to 103.5 points in June. The production of consumer goods and capital goods decreased by 4.4 and 0.6 per cent respectively, while the production of intermediate goods and energy went up by 2.1 and 2.4 per cent respectively.

When compared to the corresponding month last year, the index of industrial production decreased by 0.1 per cent. This was mainly attributed to a decline of 6.8 per cent in the production of consumer goods. On the other hand, the production of intermediate goods, energy and capital goods increased by 2.3, 6.9 and 4.1 per cent respectively.
