Leading health insurer Bupa Malta, which is part of GlobalCapital plc’s portfolio of insurance operations across the Maltese Islands, has launched an information leaflet on a “Healthier Malta” that contains a number of tips on lifestyle changes that can assist in improving health.

Bupa Malta’s information leaflet will be available from the ‘Beat Obesity, Get Healthy’ Road show, a series of healthy lifestyle road shows visiting Valletta, Marsascala, Gozo and Sliema.

The road shows aim to target people across Malta and Gozo who want to make healthier lifestyle choices, and as part of its partnership with ‘Beat Obesity, Get Healthy’, Bupa will be speaking to hundreds of people at every event and providing them with the free leaflet full of advice on how to live a healthier life.

The road show is free each venue will hold a number of activities including, expert nutritionist sessions, free health assessment including body mass index and glucose level tests, a complimentary sports goodie bag provided by Bupa on a first come, first served basis, as well as exercise and tips from local sports and entertainment personalities.

Cooking lessons using easy and healthy recipes by well-known chefs will also be provided, together with helpful hints on reaching goals by qualified professionals and opportunities to participate in free fitness or Zumba classes.

The message emerging from both Bupa and the event organisers, Network Publications in collaboration with the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Directorate, is that serious disease could be prevented through lifestyle change.

The events are intended to help educate people on the importance of a healthy balanced diet, maintaining a healthy weight and the benefits of regular physical activity, all of which help reduce the risk of developing a range of illnesses and complications including heart disease, diabetes, stroke and certain forms of cancer.

“Bupa’s purpose is to help people lead longer, healthier, happier lives, and through our partnership with the ‘Beat Obesity, Get Healthy’ Road show, we have committed to improving the lives of thousands of people across the Maltese Islands, and helping them make healthier lifestyle choices,” director and consultant to Bupa Adriana Zarb Adami said.
