Real estate operators welcome new retirement programme rules

Chamber’s real estate business section welcomes Malta Retirement Programme Rules 2012

The Real Estate Business Section of the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry congratulated finance minister Tonio Fenech for the "innovative approach" in the publication of the rules governing the retirement of EU and EEA as well as Swiss nationals.

"These rules further enhance Malta's offer, which a recent international study listed as the best place on earth for British nationals to retire. The Real Estate Business Section would also like to comment positively on the paradigm shift that addresses the specific needs of our sister island by offering more favourable conditions to those who choose Gozo as their retirement destination," the group said.

The rules are expected to help the local property industry compete on the international property market and will enhance the island's image as a retirement destination. The Real Estate Business Section of The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry encourages the Ministry to create similar rules to attract third-country pensioners to choose Malta as their new home.
