New Dragonara concessionaires to invest €26 million
Novotech peninsula’s offer of €12.7 million for Dragonara to be followed with €13.7 investment in upgrading casino
The new company that won the concession for the operation of the Dragonara casino will be investing €26 million in its operation.
The Novotech Peninsula consortium won the concession with an offer of €12.7 million. Runner-up Tomino Ltd, which operates almost 50% of the casino industry with the Oracle and Portomaso casinos, made an offer of €11 million, while former Dragonara operators Dragonara Casino Ltd’s offer was of €10.1 million
The new casino will be modernised with new gaming machines, the finance ministry said today after signing the concession at the gaming authority’s new premises in Mriehel.
The investment itself will be of €9.2 million in new equipment and €4.5 million in upgrading the facilities.
Finance minister Tonio Fenech expressed his satisfaction at news of the investment into the casino’s modernisation, praising Novotech for its experience in casino management.
Fenech said casinos played an important part in tourism and for Malta to be in a strong position to offer quality service.
