HSBC Malta wins Financial Times’s bank of the year in Malta

HSBC Bank Malta has for the second year running been named Bank of the Year in Malta by the prestigious Financial Times publication The Banker, in recognition for its achievements and the best overall performance.

FT's Bank of the Year Award reflects a strong financial performance, impressive growth rates, and continued investment in the business and the community.

Commenting on the award, HSBC Bank Malta CEO Mark Watkinson said: "HSBC Bank Malta delivered a strong performance across all businesses in spite of increasingly difficult market conditions. The Banker Award is a great tribute to the HSBC team in Malta and I would like in particular to thank our customers and our teams for their continued support."

As a winner of The Banker Awards, HSBC Bank Malta received the prestigious Bracken Award. Bracken epitomises the global spirit, vision and integrity of The Banker and FT Group, and is often considered the 'Oscar' of the international banking industry. Brendan Bracken was the founding editor of The Banker in 1926 and later the chairman of the modern-day Financial Times from 1945 to 1958.

Is this some kind of sick joke?HSBC the bank that likes to close down branches and lay-off staff as well as totally ignore workers collective agreements signed with their Unions and display totally reckless and irresponsible lending and securing business practices(PPI for one)and illegal mmoney-laundering operations? It must have been the votes from the Mexican Druglords-for whom HSBC is their preferred bank of choice that swung this award their way!
