Air Malta ‘on track to achieve its objectives’
National airline says ‘no agreement yet reached’ with Sky Gourmet, World Aviation Group and Enemalta.
Air Malta, who tomorrow will release its third quarter financial results, has denied that any agreements have been reached with Sky Gourmet, World Aviation Group and Enemalta, insisting such agreements should first be in line with the requirements outlined in our Restructuring Plan, and as approved by the EU.
A report published earlier today by news portal inewsmalta.com stated that Air Malta intends to pay Sky Gourmet €7 million to terminate the contract and wants to terminate its contract with the World Aviation Group as well.
Reacting to the report, Air Malta insisted that all results issued by the company present an accurate picture of the airline's performance.
"Air Malta's Board of Directors and Senior Management have always recognised that the company continues to face many challenges to achieve its objectives," the airline said.
Air Malta said that one critical area for the company is to secure acceptable agreements with key suppliers to manage costs and deliver services in line with the airline's new positioning.
"This is the only way to support the development of a sustainable business model," it said. "However, the company will continue to work with our suppliers to find valid solutions as a matter of urgency."
Air Malta insisted that each negotiation was subject to the discipline of satisfying the stringent criteria of an individual Business Case and will be concluded in the interests of Air Malta's business.
"Air Malta remains on track to achieve its objectives in the current financial year and, as planned, more information will be released about our third quarter results tomorrow," it said.
