Hotel Guests’ Small Change Makes a Big Difference in Malta

Guests staying at Hilton Malta in Portomaso, St Julians, have helped to make a big difference to disadvantaged children and young people by raising €1,811 in Hilton in the Community Foundation’s annual fundraising campaign.

"Small Change, Big Difference", a campaign, ran in Malta along with 144 other Hilton hotels in 21 countries across Europe, from October to December 2012. The campaign as a whole has raised a massive total of over €177,500, which will make a huge difference to the lives of young people.

The campaign invites guests staying at Hilton Worldwide hotels to add an optional €1 onto their room bill during their stay. Since its inception in 2004, the campaign has already raised over €1.33 million for children's charities.

Clement Hassid, General Manager of Hilton Malta, said, "I would like to express my gratitude to our generous guests for their support. This is a fantastic campaign to be involved in. The small change from our guests really does make a positive difference to local children. Throughout the year we run a number of exciting initiatives through our charity, Hilton in the Community Foundation, and Small Change Big Difference has been proven to be an effective fundraiser"

The funds raised have been donated to help the work of Inspire, in particular to help the charity provide multi-sensory theatres and equipment for treating children with cerebral palsy, AD-HD and autism.

Thanks to support from team members and guests, Hilton in the Community Foundation has supported children in Malta since 2009 with grants to Inspire totalling €20,372.42, helping provide therapeutic horse-back riding, multi-sensory treatments and support for children with disabilities.
