Chamber of Commerce elects David Curmi president

The Chamber of Commerce's council elected its new president David G. Curmi on a two-year term in an uncontested election held Thursday, 4 April. He previously served as president in 2002 and 2003.

Curmi replaces Tancred Tabone, who resigned in the wake of a criminal indictment over corruption in the procurement of oil supplies for Enemalta during his tenure as chairman of the energy corporation.

The Chamber council will meet again in the coming days to elect the board of management. Curmi is the CEO of MSV Life plc, Growth Investments Ltd., director of Middlesea Assist (a Mapfre company), Plaza Centres, Midi plc, council memvber of the Malta Insurance Association, and chairman of L.B. Factors Ltd.

He is an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of the United Kingdom and a chartered insurer, and is a regular lecturer on various insurance topics at the University of Malta and at the Malta Insurance Training Centre.
