Former GWU secretary appointed Freeport director
Cottonera marina architect Robert Sarsero is new Freeport chairman.
A former acolyte of Labour minister Lorry Sant - Ronnie Pellegrini - has been appointed director on the new board of the Malta Freeport, parliamentary secretary Edward Zammit Lewis announced.
The new board will be chaired Robert Sarsero, while Mario Grima and Pellegrini will be directors.
Sarsero was described as having a vast experience in both public and private planning and management, and was formally in charge of the development of the Cottonera marina.
Pelligrini was formerly a section secretary of the General Workers Union, seconded to the Labour Party in 2008 while still on the union's payroll. He then doubled up as an assistant to then secretary-general Jason Micallef. He was later involved as a union man to negotiate a collective agreement with the General Workers' Union for One Productions.
