'Our favourable taxation system gives investors the opportunity to achieve considerable fiscal efficiency when using Malta as a base' - Zammit Lewis.

Parliamentary secretary Edward Zammit Lewis, this afternoon launched an international three-day conference organised by ITC stakeholders.

This conference is a worldwide networking event for distributors, traders, brokers and resellers of consumer IT, consumer electronics, and mobile devices.

Zammit Lewis described Malta as being home to online gaming companies who in turn have provided quality jobs.

He said that Malta is in the process of launching new initiatives in this sector.

"On the other hand Malta will remain at the forefront of ensuring that crime, corruption and money laundering is prevented; and above all it will protect minors and the vulnerable."

Zammit Lewis described Malta as attracting companies who work with and develop sophisticated technology while being also home to a sound financial service sector.

"Our favourable taxation system gives investors the opportunity to achieve considerable fiscal efficiency when using Malta as a base. They also have the confidence of regulatory integrity; they know that we are compliant with EU legislation."

Zammit Lewis said the government had started working on its pledge to reduce red tape while a Commissioner to reduce bureaucracy in departments, agencies and authorities will be appointed imminently.
