Farsons Group hosts second Business Breakfast for its directors & management
A Business Breakfast focussing on the theme, ‘Crisis … what crisis?’ was recently organised by the Farsons Group at the Brewery’s Old Boardroom in Mriehel. Hosted by Quintano Foods Limited, the event was an opportunity for the Farsons Group directors and management to discuss future international trends and developments as well as Malta’s possible ‘fit’ in this scenario.
Distinguished guest speaker at the event, Mr Mark Watkinson, Director and Chief Executive Officer, HSBC Bank Malta plc, addressed the theme chosen for this event; namely, that based on HSBC research on trends in the developed world as well as emerging markets, along with demographic changes and various challenges being experienced, the world as we know it today is likely to be substantially different in the coming decades.
This scenario opened up a debate as to Malta's key economic drivers and the implications on companies such as the Farsons Group. Mr Watkinson presented many interesting insights and perspectives which provided much food for thought.
During his opening speech, Mr Louis A. Farrugia, Chairman of the Farsons Group, noted that "The Farsons Group has a successful history spanning more than 85 years. This merits due recognition, however we need to continue to focus on the future, to develop our strategies for growth, diversity and innovation to ensure that we continue to build on these successes. Being proactive and entrepreneurial are essential qualities required of all the management team."
Through this event, participants had the opportunity to step out of their busy schedules for a short period of time and afforded them the possibility to look beyond the working environment, to stop and think of all the implications of the international future scenario presented to them and to appreciate the knowledge and expertise of respected leaders in the economy.
The Business Breakfast was concluded by Mr Norman Aquilina, Chief Executive Officer of the Farsons Group who touched on some salient points made by Mr Watkinson and their implications on Farsons' strategies.
