Solar energy grant scheme for businesses cancelled

Ministry for European Affairs seeking not to lose any funds following cancellation of 2013 solar energy grant scheme.

The Solar Energy Grant Scheme 2013, for businesses, has been cancelled, Malta Enterprise said this evening.

The reason attributed to this cancellation was "problems encountered in the process of pre-selection of suppliers".

Malta Enterprise - government's foreign investment promotion agency - said the decision was reached after consultations with the Managing Authority of the European Regional Development Fund, the findings of the Appeals Committee and a thorough consideration of the various options available.

Meanwhile, the Ministry for European Affairs has already identified alternate use of the funds originally allocated for the scheme.

"Considering the recently closed calls and commitments of funds, should the funds requested by the successful projects exceed the budget available, government will take the necessary steps to make that shift of funds between the respective priority axis possible to ensure full absorption of funds available," it said.

@Toni Borg. Your conclusion is far-fetched and illogical. But then everthing considered I cannot expect any better from the harbingers of doom. You have still ot recovered from the shock of electoral defeat!!!

Another slip by the PL in only 6 months of government! The only reason one can think off for this cancellation is that the government is not willing to invest in solar energy and that it does NOT WANT TO INVEST in Malta!!!
