Banif backs President’s Charity Fun Run for fifth year running
“Achieve. Believe. Succeed.” - the values that drive Banif Bank are also those branding this year’s President’s Charity Fun Run, supported by the Bank since its very first edition five years ago.
The event was born out of a wish to create a national event that brings together young and old and people from every sector of life, to walk, move and run for a token participation fee in favour of L-Istrina, the Malta Community Chest Fund and their deserving philanthropic causes.
Last year the Fun Run clocked the largest ever number of participants - a record 14,000. In a sea of Banif indigo, adults, children, and even dogs made their way from San Anton Palace to St George's Square in Valletta, led by an enthusiastic President, while the First Lady led the walk from Santa Venera. Once again, thousands are expected to participate in this year's Fun Run that will follow the same seven kilometre route, on Sunday December 1. The run is organised in collaboration with the Malta Amateur Athletic Association, and with the support of the Ministry for Health, the Parliamentary Secretariat for Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Ageing and Valletta European Capital of Culture 2018.
"This year's edition of the Fun Run marks five years of collaboration between Banif and the Presidency," said Joaquim F. Silva Pinto, Chief Executive Officer at Banif Bank. "We are happy to have had the foresight back in 2008 of being part of The President's Charity Fun Run that year on year has grown in both significance and proportion."
"Once again the Bank will be making its resources available and will be accepting applications in its 10 branches to sustain the Malta Community Chest Fund with the logistics of the event. The Bank is truly grateful to the public whose solidarity and enthusiasm fuels our energy year after year, to More Supermarket who for the second year running will support the activity and to the Bank's staff who are actively involved in the event. Last but not least to HE George Abela, who has given us the possibility to be part of the national activity and for the work that he and his team carry out for the benefit of deserving causes and NGOs," added Mr Silva Pinto.
Fun Run applications can be collected from all Banif Bank branches, the Palace in Valletta, the Palace at San Anton or online at www.funrun.org.mt. One can also follow Fun Run news by becoming part of Banif's community on Facebook.
